Dealing with adversity successfully in life is much like this turtle. Like the turtle you need to find a way to keep growing – even if it sometimes feels like your past is literally strangling you!
The strength of life and your spirit is truly unconquerable. Life has literally moulded you and shaped you from your past experiences into the person you are today.
Some people choose to let their past define them, however this is a choice!
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” Charles R. Swindoll
The will to succeed and the desire to win cannot be stopped, and if you haven’t found your edge yet – you’re not growing! It’s consistently meeting our edge where we find our biggest lessons and our strongest growth.
We all have our scars and get knocked down every now and again. Dealing with adversity, and what sets apart the winners from the losers however is the ones who get back up and keep fighting. Those who get IMMEDIATELY back up are usually the ones who excel the most.
Lessons For Dealing With Adversity From The Masters…
One of the best examples of someone dealing with adversity is Michael Jordan. The truth is he was simply willing to fail much more than anyone else.
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Michael Jordan.
When Sylvester Stallone wrote the script for ‘Rocky’ he knew what he wanted, and wasn’t prepared to settle for less than what he wanted.
His script got rejected repeatedly, and he actually had to sell his dog to make ends meet which broke his heart.
Determined, he continued to persist, and eventually someone offered him $30,000 for the script which back then was a fantastic offer.
Unfortunately for Sylvester though, they told him that they didn’t want him to play the part – but rather someone else.
This wasn’t what Sylvester wanted so he simply turned down the offer.
Sly kept persisting and persisting after rejection after rejection, and eventually was offered $300k for the script AND the part of Rocky in the film.
He refused to quit until he got what he wanted – and because of this determination he got it.
And when he finally got some money again, he bought his dog back.
Donald Trump was so far in debt at one stage that after walking past a homeless guy on the street he said something along the lines of “If that man has absolutely nothing, then he is $900 Million richer than me.”
What a realisation for such a financially successful person to have!
Obviously Donald didn’t let the failure get him down, and he came back on top once again. He is truly a master of dealing with adversity, and not letting his past strangle him.
Jack Canfield’s book ‘Chicken Soup for the soul’ was rejected 144 times. Today the entire ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ series has sold more than 112 million copies. Imagine if he had of given up on the 143rd time!! The result would be drastically different.
Now you are probably thinking – ‘Well I’m nothing like Michael, Sylvester, Donald or Jack!’ but I’m here to tell you – YES YOU ARE! You are absolutely just as gifted and talented as they are.
The one critical difference between yourself and guys like these however might be YOUR ABILITY TO PERSIST in the face of serious set-backs and MASSIVE challenges.
When you are working in a home based business for example depending on the quality of leads you have, you can literally speak to hundreds of people before getting a ‘yes’.
The network marketing and direct sales industry is the ultimate in dealing with adversity and all part of the process.
Those who quit get nothing.
Those who don’t feel strangled by their past go on to achieve their wildest dreams, and make a big difference in the world.

My pleasure Viola. Thanks for stopping by and your kind words!
Incredible turtle. So sad and yet so inspiring. Only it’s humans’ fault he had to go through that. Many other animals have died because of those plastic things. I know I can overcome anything because I have God with me and that’s a majority. Good blog, Luke.
Great attitude Ann! And attitude is not just something – it’s absolutely everything
