How to choose an MLM opportunity.

How to choose an MLM opportunity that’s right for you, is not necessarily as simple as you might think…
So you’ve been presented with an MLM opportunity. You can’t believe how great it sounds… and you love the concept of residual income and what it can do for you and your family. Now should you go for it? Should you dive straight in, cough up the cash and take the risk? My advice would be no. Not straight away. How to choose an MLM opportunity properly, involves taking your time! That’s right! Relax… there is absolutely no rush! Chill out! Take these 5 things into consideration when deciding if it’s worth it. You won’t necessarily make your millions if the company you want to join isn’t right for you personally, or isn’t sound!
1. Find out if the company meets your personal needs
Does this company you are looking at provide products or services that are of value and great use for you. The most important thing in joining the MLM industry is that you walk your talk. This is EXTREMELY important. This means that when you are a distributor for a certain company, you have to make sure that you have trust in the product that you are promoting and you are using them!! If you lack integrity in any way shape or form PEOPLE NOTICE when they talk to you about your opportunity.
2. Research about its infrastructure and information
The magic numbers are:
2 Years old.
Between 100k and 200k representatives.
There are literally thousands of network marketing companies, and a massive proportion of these go belly-up. A recent example is that of Ilearning Global. Start right by doing research about the MLM company. It always feels so much better to start something that you are educated about. Learn about your MLM company of choice before finally joining. Getting to know the company, its system, its scope and its objectives can give you the idea of how secure it is. Be certain that the company has the resources and the technology. In addition, see to it that you understand the compensation plan. With this, you are able to identify if it allows you to generate income soon. Take note that you do not allow yourself to get carried away with companies who over-promise. Make sound decisions by learning the fundamentals of the specific MLM company. Doing so can give you an assurance that it fits you and your needs not just as businessman but as a consumer too. Don’t be sold on a magic pill. MLM companies take work and time. Remember to be realistic.
3. See to it that the company suits your passion and culture
I spoke about this in my last blog post – and this is to do with passion! Not all MLM companies and products can work for everyone. What suits you may not be suitable for others. Be reminded that to make your business work, you have to be passionate about it. Nothing beats one’s will to succeed especially when someone loves what they are doing. Being passionate about your MLM enables you to surpass the test of starting up. Doing something that is close to your interests does not require too much effort and energy because for sure, you are going to love what you are doing. This is more critical than you might think.
4. Spot a company with good positioning in the market
This factor mainly focuses on the business principles that the company embraces. If the other criterion in choosing the right company feels good, this particular aspect includes the backbone of the company, its members and its history of success and reputation. Being with a company that does well in the market is already a step up for you. Also pick products that are favored by market trends. How do you know if they are? There are two ways of determining this. One, choose products that have been consistently marketable through time. Secondly, choose products that ride with the current market wave. This also includes checking out about the companies management background. Doing so can give you the bigger assurance that you are knowledgeable about the venture that you are about to join.
5. Make sure that you are comfortable with its system of success
It cannot be denied that monetary success is the most alluring attribute of the MLM business. On the other hand, it always rewards to think that doing this also needs your degree of comfort for being a part of a certain company. Ask yourself if you are going to be a part of a company that upholds long-term quality progress.
How to choose an MLM opportunity properly really does TAKE TIME! Consider your options! All these factors are really helpful if you make them as your guide in determining what MLM opportunity can serve you at its best. Please take your time when choosing the right opportunity for you. It will serve you in the long run.

Hey Luke, great post! Despite the fact that there is a lot of emotion that ends up taking over at many MLM introductory meetings, I think most leaders would agree that we would rather have someone who considers the points you put here and then chooses our company, than someone who dives in on an emotional high.
My experience is that the people who dive in on emotional highs usually end up out of the business within 90 days. However, those who carefully consider the opportunity, and do a cost-benefit analysis, tend to be the ones who stay the longest and have the most success.
Now, that having been said, “carefully consider” does not mean that they take 2, 3, 4 weeks to decide. Careful consideration, I’ve found, is anywhere from 2-7 days. A good quality person for your MLM business will not take any longer than that to decide. And a person who does end up joining your MLM after taking 2, 3, 4 weeks to decide, will probably take 2, 3, 4 week breaks from doing anything in their own business.
I have actually found that I’m better off talking the 2, 3, 4 week people out of being a distributor, helping them pick the products that are right for them, and having them as a personal customer.
Great reading Luke. Thanks for shedding light on this important topic. I feel many of us jump or have jumeped in head first based strictly on emotion.
Good article Luke, Think the advice is good for any company you align yourself with, even as an employee. Of course they will over promise, they want to reassure you,but I think if you go in with ‘what if this doesn’t happen’ in mind, then you can make plans to recognise and tackle the problems you may have ahead, before they occur.
Great article! These steps definitely need to be carefully considered when making a decision in the right MLM Opportunity! Thanks for sharing

Glad it’s helpful guys. I really feel 90% of people get ‘sucked in’ by how great an opportunity may sound and simply join without really researching that particular company. It is important if you’re SERIOUS about creating strong passive income for life. It must be researched. Thanks!
Luke
Thanks for the great information. It is true that you need to research the opportunity and have a passion for the company you choose and its mission.
